Iggy Azalea is winning again with “Black Widow,” her third breakthrough hit, featuring Rita Ora. The single, also following songs like “Mediocre,” just hit no.1 on the Pop Songs chart.
According to Billboard, this is a major feat for Azalea, whose “Fancy” and collaboration with Ariana Grande, on “Problem,” also reached the summit on the chart.
“Iggy Azalea becomes just the fourth artist in the Pop Songs radio airplay chart’s 21-year history to send her first three chart entries to No. 1, as “Black Widow” (featuring Rita Ora) steps 2-1. The song follows her first charted hit, “Fancy” (featuring Charli XCX), which led for three weeks in June/July, and “Problem” by Ariana Grande featuring Azalea; the latter led for two weeks in July – and knocked “Fancy” out of the top spot. Azalea is the first act to go three-for-three out-of-the-gate since Lady Gaga sent a record six career-opening titles to No. 1 in 2009-10. The other two acts to earn the honor with three each: Avril Lavigne (2002-03) and Ace of Base (1994). (Ora, meanwhile, earns her first Pop Songs No. 1.),” reports Billboard.
“Black Widow” has also reached no.1 on the Rhythmic Songs chart.

Iggy Azalea may not have popped up on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live, when the time seemed ripe due to Ariana Grande‘s musical guest gig and the pair’s hit song “Problem,” but it turns out it won’t matter much.
Azalea will appear on the Oct. 25 episode of SNL, the show revealed during the show Saturday night (Oct. 11).

Azalea is the musical guest on the show hosted by Jim Carrey.
It will mark the Australian rapper’s first appearance on the NBC show. She rose to prominence on the national stage earlier this year after the release of her debut album The New Classic and her No. 1 hit “Fancy.”
On Friday, Azalea revealed she’d be appearing on the show, performing her new single “Beg for It.”

Often the voice of reason in hip hop, T.I. is standing his ground again in defense of his protégé, Iggy Azalea. The Hustle Gang head honcho wants critics to stop trying to classify the First Lady of Grand Hustle and focus on her talent.
“I think her influence in music should be attributed to her work ethic, her artistic views,” T.I. told Hard Knock TV. Since Iggy stepped on the scene she’s been subjected to scrutiny for her lyrics, her Southern drawl, and rumored use of the N-word.

“She has a vision for herself, that she will not compromise, she has a certain idea of how she wants to present herself and how to platform her art,” T.I. said. “I think she should be judged based on that rather then her cred, her nationality, what country she is from … I think all of that, those are stereotypes,” he continued.

Above all T.I. doesn’t want Iggy to be placed in a box and labeled as solely a pop or rap artist.

“When you start trying to classify people in different categories then you diminish the purpose of what we do,” the Family Hustle star said. “What we do is try to bring people together … I think she can go in a lot of different genres because she’s cross-pollinated.”

Iggy Azalea’s collaboration with Jennifer Lopez was ”surreal”.

The ‘Fancy’ hitmaker – who released the video for the pair’s new single ‘Booty’ last week – confessed she found working with the 45-year-old singer hard to come to terms with as she grew up listening to her music.

However, the Aussie-born star was soon put at ease by Jennifer’s ”down to earth” attitude and believes she will stay good friends with her idol following the collaboration.

When asked about the success of the duo’s latest offering, she told E! News: ”I did [expect the video to blow up], but only because I’m a massive fan of Jennifer and, you know, to me she’s iconic, so I think anything she does deserves to be spoken about.

”Jennifer really surprised me. I thought that she would be like a super-diva, and she was so down to earth and lovely and she didn’t have a crazy ride or anything extra, she just got on with it and she was so sweet.

”I feel like I’ve gained a friend out of our collaboration and I had a very surreal moment filming the video with her because she’s somebody that I’ve sung her music back in cars with friends and in bedroom mirrors over the years. It was really great to get to do this with her.”

Meanwhile, Iggy, 24 – who, in addition to Jennifer, has already teamed-up with a host of superstars including Rita Ora, Ariana Grande and T.I – revealed she recently duetted with another ”pop queen” but is keen to keep her identity under wraps.

She explained: ”There’s somebody I’ve had my eye on but we just did a secret collaboration, so I’m hoping we’ll be able to announce that in the next few weeks. Another pop queen that I’m excited about.”

Ariana Grande has been making headlines for her diva behavior, but Iggy Azalea doesn’t think her collaborator have an attitude “problem.”
“She was very nice to me,” the “Fancy” rapper told Celebuzz backstage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival Saturday night. “She’s a sweet, quirky girl.”

“She’s a fire cracker and maybe that could be misunderstood perhaps, but I think she has a very, very kind heart,” Azalea added.

Recent rumors of Grande being quite a diva began when a photographer alleged that the 21-year-old demanded to be shot from one side of her face before storming out from the photo shoot altogether. A father of a Grande fan also claimed that the pint-sized songstress was icy and cold during a meet-and-greet. Days later, Grande was overheard saying that her fans can go “fucking die” after being stopped for autographs.
