The past few days have seen a handful of rappers sound off on Iggy Azalea’s place in the hip-hop community, from mentor T.I. defending her skills to Q-Tip teaching her a lesson to Azealia Banks effectively ripping her apart. Add to that list of artists: the Black Eyed Peas rapper fired off a round of tweets praising Azalea for her impact as a white female within the genre.

“hiphop Is global now…it doesn’t matter if your white or black…thanks for contributing & spreading our culture positively,” wrote. He also thanked Blondie for “expanding hiphop” with their song “Rapture” in 1980.

Iggy Azalea has spent the past week trading words with fellow female rapper Azealia Banks, and has spent the past year being criticized for cultural misappropriation by being a white Australian woman in hip-hop. Now the “Fancy” star is facing a new opponent: the hacking group Anonymous, who spent Friday night (Dec. 19) slamming Azalea and eventually threatening to release snapshots from an X-rated tape starring the rapper — and possibly other things the rapper would want to keep secret — unless she apologizes in the next 48 hours.

“You are guilty of misappropriating black culture, insulting peaceful protesters, and making light of Eric Garner’s death. @IGGYAZALEA,” the faceless group posted on Friday night. Anonymous is asking Azalea to “release a statement apologizing to @AzealiaBanks and the protesters in NYC” within 48 hours, or else proof of her X-rated tape will be released.

The group makes clear that the scandalous tape itself will not be released, because they “are not in the business of porn.” Instead, they will “release various snapshots of her face to confirm” her involvement, and to prove a larger point.

Google has unveiled their annual Year in Search results, and Iggy Azalea has beaten out Beyoncé and even Taylor Swift as the most-trending artist for 2014. She also ended up being the fourth most-searched person in the United States, and her hit single, “Fancy,” was one of the top five searches for song lyrics this year.

After Azalea, the top ten trending musicians for 2014 include, in order, Lorde, Sam Smith, Meghan Trainor, Solange Knowles, Nicki Minaj, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Sia, and Daft Punk. Finishing last is Taylor Swift, which comes as a shock to many. However, Swift’s “Blank Space” did land a top five spot for most-trending lyrics.

Many were also surprised to see Beyoncé absent from the list and topped by her little sister, but Solange’s wedding was quite the event back in November. Even so, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian had the most-Googled wedding in 2014. Breaking the internet is so romantic.

As music fans wrestled for festival tickets and raced to see lineups, they unwittingly contributed to another Google list for 2014: the top ten most-searched music festivals. Coachella took the throne this year, followed by Mysteryland, Boston Calling, Hard Summer, Electric Forest, Firefly Music Festival, Austin City Limits, South by Southwest, Outside Lands, and Fun Fun Fun Fest.

The most popular lyric search was “Say Something” by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera. Trailing behind were “Anaconda” by Nicki Minaj, “Fancy” by Iggy Azalea, “Happy” by Pharrell Williams, “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift, “Royals” by Lorde, “Dark Horse” by Katy Perry, “Bang Bang” by Jessie J feat. Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, “Counting Stars” by OneRepublic, and “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus.

Interestingly enough, most of the top-trending songs of 2014 were actually released in 2013, including “Say Something,” “Happy,” “Royals,” “Dark Horse,” “Counting Stars,” and “Wrecking Ball.” Apparently, it takes a year of jamming before you wonder what the heck you’re singing along to.

Overall, the top three searches for 2014 were Robin Williams, World Cup, and Ebola. For more statistical goodness, you can check out Google’s full breakdown here. Or, you know, you could Google it.

Did you know Iggy Azalea was born a boy named Cody? Neither did she.

The rapper posted the hilarious rumor Friday morning (December 12), giving us all a good laugh.

The story she’s referring to comes from a site called Huzlers. Here’s a hilarious clip:

Huzlers Iggy Azalea
Huzler’s source is wacky because, um, we’re MTV, and Iggy never said that to us. Nevertheless, the whole thing is a great way to kick off the weekend, and Twitter had fun with it.
